The Back Seat Is Safest

Everyone knows that a car seat is essential for keeping your child safe as you travel about. If you are traveling alone, it may be tempting to put your baby in the front seat, but according to the NHTSA, this is not a safe practice.

The safest place for your baby is in the rear seat. Infant car seats are designed to be placed in the rear, not in the front. One of the reasons is that the front airbags are not designed to accommodate a car seat and could cause harm if they deploy. Another is that you may be tempted to be distracted and do things for your baby that should wait until you are no longer driving.

Even though it may be tempting to place the baby in the front seat, it is best to listen to the advice of experts and place your baby in the back where it is safe.
