The Prius now uses the next evolution of Toyota's TNGA-C platform. This means the Prius has a wider stance, a lower driving position, and better fuel economy. A new 194-hp hybrid powertrain with available all-wheel drive has been added. It's said the new engine can reach 0 - 60 mph faster than previous generations.
Performance
The 194-hp hybrid setup is the only powertrain for the 2023 Toyota Prius. This 2.0-liter hybrid inline-four gasoline engine is attached to a continuously variable automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive is standard. All-wheel drive is also available; with it, the Prius can reach 196 horsepower.
Technology
The new fifth-generation Prius exterior has a bold design, but the interior is more conservative, with a more traditional cabin. Technology abounds throughout the new Prius, and a new eight-inch infotainment screen comes standard on LE and XLE trims. Standard on the Limited and optional for the XLE is a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen. The screens come standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability and available Wi-Fi. And voice commands can be used to control the console.
Safety
The Prius comes standard with driver-assistance technology that's typically optional in competitor models. Automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, automatic high-beam, and lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist are all standard. While higher trims feature a head-up display, adaptive headlights, and an automated parallel parking system.
